Mother's Day

Martin and I went home this weekend and spent time with my mom for Mother's Day.  We sat on the patio for every meal and felt the warmth of the sun on our winter skin. I felt so content being in the place where I feel most at home. Being with my mom makes everything better...everything suddenly doesn't seem so scary or uncertain.  I feel comforted.  My mom has created such a beautiful and special place for her daughters to come home to.

In fact, my mom has done such an amazing job at this that I rarely want to leave home once I'm there...which may sound silly coming from a married 26 year old.  It was hard leaving home today...it's hard coming back to my home, our little one bedroom apartment in the middle of a busy city.  But my mom reminded me this weekend that everything good comes with time and enjoying this time, even as we are figuring life out, is what's important.

My mom always knows what to say. So here I am back in a city I may not be too fond of, but my mom's words keep running through my head. Her words and advice will always run through my head because a mother's voice is a part of who we are.

Happy Mother's Day Mom,
I'm so glad it is your voice that I get to hear :)  Thank you for all of your love and support.  And thank you for being the kind of mother that I will strive to be someday.
