Another Snow Walk | because it's always snowing

Sometimes being inside ALL day long can make you feel a little stir crazy.  Even on snowy days we try to take Everdeen out to get some fresh air and explore.  Being outside is so good for the soul, the mind, the spirit.   We found a path surrounded by a forest of pine trees in the neighborhood across the street...I felt like I was in a scene from the perpetual winter of Narnia.

Quiet and beautiful.
I love when we find little pockets of beauty in the most unlikely of places.

Life Lately

Life has been full lately.  Although we have been spending our days trying to stay warm, we know that soon enough Spring will grace us with her soft, flowery, warm days.  I think that's what keeps us going during these last few winter storms of the season...knowing that in a month or so we'll be able to crack the seal on the windows, walk outside without a coat, and breath in the apple blossoms. The other morning I heard birds chirping...I smiled the whole way to work.
I am very excited to say that Martin was offered two different jobs a few weeks ago.  He chose a job with a local hot sauce company and because of his hours Martin and Everdeen's Nana and Grandma are still able to watch her during the week (which means no more giant checks to daycare at the moment!). I think it's the best of both worlds. And he really really likes it.  Which makes me happy too.  I have a feeling the meals Martin makes us will now be a little on the hot side...
We've been trying to fill our winter evenings with music and play.  Martin strung new strings onto his Mandolin and Everdeen has been helping me play the piano more and more. Sometimes she pushes my hands off the keys and says very firmly, "No!" and then continues to poke the keys on her own accord.  You can see the independence blossoming. Somedays you just have to laugh and remember that these little tots are learning how to be in this great big world. And that not all days are easy.
I feel like there is so much more to write about and catch up on, but the weekend is short and the laundry is calling my name.  Happy weekend friends, I hope everyone is able to see a glimpse of Spring soon :)

Everdeen Kate: I guess March decided to come in like a lion this year.  Your daddy and I were freezing cold on our walk, but you insisted on going further...mostly so you could eat the snow :)

Vindi Baby

Everdeen and I are so honored to be featured on Vindi Baby today!
Top: Bridget Floral Blouse
Bottom: Vinna Leggings

Catherine, who is the lovely owner of Vindi Baby, contacted us this past fall to be a part of a special project about mothers and daughters.  How could I pass that up! Everdeen and I set out on our adventure and I'm so glad we were able to document our day together.

When you have some time please check out the beautiful online boutique run by Catherine and her husband. I could seriously spend hours looking at all of their sweet vintage inspired girl's clothing! And the swimsuits...summer can't get here fast enough!

Thank you Catherine, for being so wonderful and inviting us to be a part of this series!

Everdeen Kate: "Up! Up!" you say over and over until we plop you up onto the piano bench.  It's amazing how actually very delicate you are with each note you play...well for a few minutes anyways :)
