Apartment Update

What do you think?
Thanks to my sister and her electric drill we were able to surprise Martin with his very own music wall.  Now he can start playing his instrument of choice at a moments notice and serenade me in a variety of ways :)
I love a home filled with music...and I love a home filled with creative art work.
I found these posters on Etsy.com.  I love them!
I got Martin this one for his birthday
very fitting huh?

As Martin said yesterday, our little castle is slowly coming together.

Flea Market Treasures

What do you think of my new flea market find?
It's an old tin ceiling panel.
We sprayed it with RustOleum to keep the paint from chipping any further...so we don't eat lead based paint chips while we sleep :)
I like to think about where it was...how old it is. I love old things!
A couple weeks ago I found my bedside table at a flea market for $10!
We're slowly getting our bedroom the way we want it.  It takes a lot more patience, but I think I love a room even more when each piece has been specially picked out one at a time to make it your own.

Clean House

I feel like I was very productive today.
I cleaned the kitchen, mopped the floors,
cleaned the bathroom, dusted, did three loads of laundry, vacuumed, changed the
sheets...hey!  I thought I was supposed to be on summer vacation?
Oh, and I injured myself for the third time this week.  What's going on? Maybe tomorrow I'll just sit by the pool to avoid any potentially dangerous situations in my apartment.
Sounds good to me!

Moving On Up

Finally! We have internet again!

Sunday we were blessed with nice moving weather and lots of help!

I woke up telling myself to be calm...

That may have lasted for about 5 minutes.

Moving is hard.

I'm glad it's over and I'm really loving our new place. Pictures soon to come!

scary mask

Hanging above our doorway is a mask that Martin's family brought back from Sri Lanka.  It is scary and I have no idea how it ended up in our apartment.  Martin says it scares away the bad demons...I think it is a bad demon and here is proof.

Wilson stares at this mask for HOURS upon HOURS. Sometimes he makes crying noises at it and wiggles his tail wildly. The other day Margo was sitting on the couch arm and suddenly got spooked as she looked up at the mask. Okay, okay there could be a tiny little spider or something that lives in the scary mask's nose, but that's not as fun to believe.

I'd like to make a proclamation now that this mask will not be following us into our new apartment. Thank you.

Home Sweet Home

Martin and I have been talking a lot about what we should do next year.  Should we stay? Should we move? We pretty much go back and forth on our decision every week.  I think my family is getting tired of hearing, "Well we made a decision! We're moving!" and then an hour later, "We decided we're going to stick it out a few more years." What if we decide to move and it ends up being the worst decision ever? Or what if we don't move and then regret it for a long time?  Anyone want to tell me what to do?

This winter will be my third year here in Denver, and I think I'm finally starting to settle in (let's just say it takes me a while to get used to things :) I know where the grocery store is, the Target, and my school.  It's not as scary driving around the big city once you get used to it.  Oh, and yesterday I found the Post Office (well, Martin drove me), but I paid attention...so see?  I now know where all the necessities are.

I never in a million years would have pictured myself living in Denver, but here I am for now.  Our apartment is literally the size of a shoebox, but I think we have finally made it feel like home.  My older sister and brother-in-law live in a different building in the same complex, which is convenient when I need to borrow a cup of sugar or just be around my family :)   If I think about it we have it pretty good here...hmmm I think I've changed my mind again.  I'll let you know when we make a decision.  :)

For now, here are some pictures to help you visualize our life here in Denver.
