Last night my husband and I went out on a date to celebrate our wedding anniversary.  It was a huge deal...we hadn't been out together alone since November.   It was the connection we needed.  Having a toddler running around and my husband working two jobs doesn't always allow for the one on one time that a marriage needs to thrive.   We decided that we want to try to go out at least once a month...so we can enjoy each others company, reconnect, recharge.
Marriage is an incredible bond, but you have to constantly be working on it.  Making it better, making yourself better. We've had our fair share of ups and downs, learning to compromise and accept each other for who we are and who we are becoming. One thing I know is that it's worth fighting for every day.

On our way home from dinner we heard the familiar sounds of the train passing through town.  Suddenly we were back in high school feeling spontaneous and carefree.  We drove alongside the train determined to beat it so we wouldn't have to sit at the railroad crossing for ten minutes.    When we made it to our intersection with  minutes to spare my husband yelled out loudly-proud of our accomplishments and waving to the suckers behind us that were now sitting and waiting for the train to pass.   We were laughing, the sun was reflecting off the newly rained on grass, I felt 17 again.

It's an amazing feeling to look into the eyes of the boy you met twelve years ago.  To think about all of the things we've been through and experienced together.   When we walked in the door we were welcomed by our little girl's shrieks of joy, "DADDY! MOMMY!"   Oh the sounds of our greatest accomplishment together.

I wouldn't trade this life together for anything.
